Straight up, we just don't trust people that haven't suffered real failure!

What could a financial consultant know about risk if they've never experienced catastrophic financial failure? How can you understand how important it is to keep your clients from falling off the cliff if you don't really know what or where the cliff is...or how bad it could actually be?

It's easy to think that you understand risk because of what you've read and learned academically. As you'll hear in this episode, we can attest that if you haven't lived it you can't ever really know.

As we were coming up (financially) we saw ourselves in an unrealistic place. We made decisions based on anecdotal data that we thought was factual. We made a series of massive financial mistakes. And it took years to recover.

As we see it, you have two choices:

1. Keep pushing forward and hope that it doesn't happen to you. You've been "good" (lucky) so far. Hope that it continues.

or..

2. Find a guide that HAS seen the darkness, has shepherded many away from it and will help you understand the tools that you can develop immediately to help prevent such a tragedy.
